taliban shake hands with saudi tops

ust 04, 2012 In: پاکستان

Killing Willing In Pakistan By taliban

August 07, 2012 In: پاکستان

Alqaida Activist Arrested

MANILA: Philippine authorities have arrested a founding member of the Al Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf group blamed for some of the worst terror attacks in the region, security officials said on Sunday.
Ustadz Ahmadsali Asmad Badron, also known as Ammad or Hamad Ustadz Idris, was arrested on Saturday in the remote Tawi-Tawi islands in the southern Philippines.
Police criminal investigation regional chief Edgar Danao said Badron was one of the founding members of Abu Sayyaf, which was founded in the 1990s using seed money from Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Along with one of his cousins Badron worked alongside Galib Andang, the notorious Abu Sayyaf leader well known as “Commander Robot”, under whom the group carried out a daring cross-border raid on a Malaysian resort in April 2000 and kidnapped dozens of foreign tourists.
The kidnapping gained Abu Sayyaf international notoriety even as the hostages were freed in batches after millions were paid following ransom negotiations brokered by Libya, officials said.
“Badron was among the trusted members of (Abu Sayyaf) who made millions of pesos in ransom money collected from their operations,” Danao said.
Subsequent US-backed operations against Abu Sayyaf led to the killing of key leaders, while many others including Andang were arrested, but later killed in a botched attempt to escape in 2005.

NATO says : Taliban Attacks Up 11% Year 2012

The U.S.-led coalition says insurgent attacks in Afghanistan during the past three months were up 11 percent, compared to the same period last year.
The latest statistics also say that the number of attacks in June was the highest for any month since fighting surged in the summer of 2010.
NATO released the figures on Thursday. They indicate a disturbing uptick in attacks at a time when foreign troops are leaving and insurgents are trying to prove they remain a potent force.
The coalition offered two possible reasons for the uptick. It says a shortened poppy harvesting season prompted insurgents to start their spring offensive earlier this year. Also, with more Afghan security forces on the ground and taking the lead in more operations, more of them are getting killed. KABUL

About 248 human Fetuses found in Russian Jungle

In Russia's south Urals region have stumbled upon a gruesome discovery — four barrels left in a forest containing 248 human fetuses, prompting an official probe, officials said Tuesday.

Police in the Sverdlovsk region said the fetuses, preserved in formaldehyde, were kept in barrels with tags marked with surnames and numbers.

The fetuses were found a few miles away from a highway linking the region's capital, Yekaterinburg, with another big city, Nizhny Tagil. Police believe that they may have come from four local hospitals and have started an investigation.

The fetuses have been placed in a local morgue.

The Health Ministry said it had ordered a check of local hospitals to prevent such incidents occurring again.

"The rude violation of medical ethics causes indignation," the ministry said in a statement. "It's inadmissible from both the moral and legal viewpoint."

The Russian Orthodox Church used the incident to emphasize its opposition against abortions. Spokesman Vladimir Legoida said in a statement that it "highlighted the degradation of our society."

Mariah Carey the Judge in American Idol

Fox is once again betting on an aging superstar diva to revitalize “American Idol.”
One of the most commercially successful pop performers of the 1990s, vocalist Mariah Carey was the third child of black/Hispanic aeronautical engineer Alfred Carey and Irish opera singer/voice coach Patricia Hickey -- a mix that made her the target of persistent racial prejudice throughout her childhood. The hostility against mixed marriages still persisting in New York at the time ultimately brought about her parents' divorce in the early 70s, putting Hickey in the position of having to keep multiple jobs in order to support her children on her own. By the age of 3, Mariah had already begun to show an enthusiasm for singing, and would sometimes accompany her mother while she rehearsed; taking note of her daughter's interest, Hickey initiated her vocal training soon afterwards. Singing quickly became the center of the young Mariah's existence. Her first public performance took place at the age of 6, and her schoolwork went largely ignored in favor of anything that could further her dream of becoming a star.
Mariah Carey, who in her heyday was one of the most popular singers on the planet, has been tapped to replace Jennifer Lopez as a judge on the musical talent show.
In a moment of faux drama, Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly called the pop star Monday on his phone during the Television Critics Assn. press tour in Beverly Hills to share the news with television journalists.
“I think it’s the biggest recording artist that any of these shows have ever had,” said Reilly.
Carey, who is wrapping up production on her latest album, said she can’t wait to join the show.
“It’s going to be fun,” she said, adding that it will be rewarding to “help find new talent and give back with ‘American Idol.’”

NRO implementation: SC rejected Goverment's Answer

The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s reply submitted to the court while hearing the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case.
The reply filed earlier said that a plea for review of the court’s order should have been filed instead.
The court said that the objections raised mentioned those orders that the court issued to the prime minister on June 26 and July 12, but neither were the copies of these orders attached with the plea submitted nor are these orders revokable.

Ethnic violence:

ASSAM: New clashes took the death toll from ethnic violence in India’s remote northeast to 22 on Tuesday despite an official curfew backed by shoot-on-sight orders, police said.
Fighting flared overnight between Bodo tribal groups and Muslim settlers in the west of Assam state, where more than 40,000 villagers have fled their homes to shelter in government buildings, schools and relief camps.
Indian soldiers and paramilitary troops have been on patrol to try to quell the unrest that started on Friday, triggered by long-standing territorial disputes.
“Incidents of arson and violence were reported overnight from several places with the death toll now put at 22,” Hagrama Mohilary, head of the Bodoland Territorial Council, a local government body, told AFP by telephone.
“The situation is tense and volatile and we want more security forces, especially reinforcements of army soldiers.”
Local television channels broadcast pictures of several homes that had been set ablaze by rioters.
“Police, army and paramilitary troopers have intensified patrols and a 24-hour, indefinite curfew has been imposed,” Assam Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain said from the worst-hit district of Kokrajhar.
Police issued shoot-on-sight orders late on Monday after rioters burnt shops and houses and attacked rival gangs. The orders mean that mobs breaking the curfew could be shot without warning.
Authorities said an estimated 40,000 people — many of them women and children — had fled their homes to take shelter in relief centres set up at designated government facilities.
